Hospital Quirónsalud Córdoba

The Hospital Quirónsalud Córdoba, completed in June 2018, is a hospital building of 18,650 m² organized into two main volumes: a larger one dedicated to the technical block and inpatient care, and a smaller one for outpatient activity. From a structural standpoint, this dual organization requires a solution capable of accommodating programs with very different demands (inpatient care, operating rooms, imaging diagnostics, emergency, and outpatient areas) while maintaining functional clarity, load capacity, and flexibility for complex healthcare installations.

The main structure is resolved in reinforced concrete, integrated into a construction that, aside from said structure, is predominantly built using dry joint systems. The project is particularly constrained by the presence of Islamic-era archaeological remains on the site, which necessitates the coordination of layout, foundations, structural geometry, and the organization of the volumes to make the new building compatible with the subsurface heritage and the urban fabric of Córdoba.

The structural solution supports a compact architecture pierced by two large interior courtyards, which introduce natural light and organize the hospital program. The arrangement of the volumes in different alignments, together with the independent exterior metallic lattice cladding, requires a structure capable of resolving corners, turns, and technical facades without compromising the constructive efficiency or the healthcare functionality of the complex.
